#38: Travelling far and fast

is only possible when you travel light. You have to take off all your envies, jealousies, unforgiveness, selfishness and fears in order to get to any place it is you want.

You can't go home and take a nap when things are tough. You have to shake it off and learn. One thing I re-learned is that it makes you stronger when your not dependent on other people. People aren't always going to be there for you. They're going to let you down. They're just people at the end of the day. So you have to learn to depend on yourself.

You've got to get over needing other people's approval and start living for yourself.

Far and f a s t.
That's where I want to go. I want it.
Are you ready to make some moves?

No more dreaming about tomorrow. Because tomorrow is today.
TAKE TWO. ACTION.

The Beyonce Experience
[It was Da Biz-ness!]

Right here I'd like to break-it-down in one of the highlights of my summer, I AM... SASHA FIERCE. Beyonce was definitely working it. Twerkin' it. The atmosphere was filled with music deejays sprawled outside Staples Center, hyped up Beyonce fans taking pictures, and baklas left and right. Definite highlights would be seeing Beyonce trapeze in the air, getting ridiculous to "Upgrade You," and singing along to "Halo" with a montage dedicated to MJ. It was a beautiful night. Sortof got teary-eyed. Young and old alike were feeling it!

Quick holla at Beyonce's backup dancers. I ain't mad at that!

Beyonce said: "Whatsup Los Angeles. Imma about to show y'all how a boss does it." And I was like: "Dang, B. You tell 'em!!"

Then she saw me in the crowd and she smiled and said "Keyshia, girl. I'm glad you were able to make it." And I said, "Psh, I'd do anything for my best friend.*" (Second to Paula :))

And she said, "Lemme show you a new dance move for next time you at the club.. I call this the "comin' atcha"-move" And I asked, "You think they ready for that tho?"

And she said, "of course. What else do they expect from a diva, a female version of a hustla?" And I giggled and said, "You crazy, B."

Beyonce laughed and said, "I ain't crazy, girl. I'm bootylicious [insert booty jam here]"

So before she left, she told me: "Just be sure that wherever ya go, you continue to be upgrading on people." And I said, "PSHHHHHHHHHHHH, you know it."

And then the chocolate looked at her butt. And I said "He lookin' at yo butt, Beyonce!" She just laughed and said, "That's 'cause he wanna be upgraded." Oh dang!

And lastly- to close up this wonderful concert Beyonce experience, I'd like to share a powerful quote:

Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask oursevles, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be?

Your playing small does not served the world. There is nothing enlighteded about shrinking so that other people won't feel inscure around you. We are all meant to shine.. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone
-- Marianne Williamson

So take a note from my girl, B. It don't matter if your on the stage, in sweats, or studying. Whatever you do. Shine on. Why? 'Cause you beautiful. ;)

Love

Psalm 18

I open my heart to you, O God
for you are my strength, my fortress,
the rock on whom I build my life.
I have been lost in my fears and my angers
caught up in falseness, fearful, and furious
I cried to you in my anguish.
You have brought me to an open space.
You saved me because you took delight in me.

I try to be good, to be just, to be generous
to walk in your ways.
I fail, but you are my lamp.
You make my darkness bright
With your help, I continue to scale the walls
and break down the barriers that fragment me.
I would be whole, and happy, and wise
and know your love

Always.

There will only be one King of Pop

RIP MJ 1958-2009, the greatest artist of this lifetime.

I thought I wouldn't write anything about MJ's passing considering no amount of words could cover the spectrum of emotions that I'm sure any MJ fan has gone through, but I just had to say some thoughts on the issue 'cause I just can't keep quiet on my opinions.

I realized something beyond the context of him being the most influential and greatest musical icon of this generation.. because I realized that when MJ left his spirit shined the brightest and I want to be sure that instead of carrying such a dismal attitude about losing the greatest musical icon of this century, we chose to celebrate the fact that MJ brought music to life, he made people believe in magic regardless of where they were from Taiwan or Tennessee, Puerto-Rican or Philipino, a teenager or a grandfather. What MJ did was untouchable and can never be replicated. Just in the same way that what you and I bring in this world can't be done by any other person.

What Michael did, he made sure exuded perfection. Whether it be his performance or his song, he put his heart and soul into it. Would do you need to put your heart and soul into? Whether it be something simple like making someone's day or something as difficult like realizing you have to fuel actions in order to see success.. you'll only shine your light to others when they take a look at you and know that you are a genuine individual, who puts their heart into everything they do.

When it's all said and done, when MJ went on his way to moonwalk in heaven with God, people didn't think: "the world has lost a strange and crazy man." People were saying: "this world has lost the King of Pop."

The drama, the chaos, the controversy all disappear and the simple question remains, what did you do to inspire people, to shine your soul to others and give yourselves to them? [Gives you a moment]

For M.J. it was music..

Whatever it be, remember each day to live your life so that when you leave, you know your spirit will be shining the brightest.

Follow the example of MJ, and rock this world. in everything you do. Make moments magical the way MJ made music real.
-Meditate on that-
