I will.
I have seen the difference it makes when a person believes in herself. It elevates them and propels them. They know they deserve better so they aspire to do better in everything.
Reading John Ortberg's "Life to the Max" book at Natl Bookstore *my hangout place*, I came upon the chapter: Power of Prayer and read this powerful quote,
'Prayer unites the soul to God.'
and I thought about that for a couple seconds.. and it boggled my mind how powerful prayer REALLY is. often times, i talk to someone about what i'm going through, looking to others for advice.. but then after i read that quote, i asked myself, 'why am i sharing my problems with other people? when God is the only person who knows me better than i know myself..He put these problems in my life to develop my character, to give me perserverance, to ultimately realize all these qualities i have within me.' talk to Him. It will make it all better.
Six months in Philippines has shaped me into a person that I am truly blessed to be. If you were to tell me last year that I would be in Philippines and did half of the things I've done here, I wouldn't believe you.
The thing is; life is so ridiculously unpredictable. And fun; if you want it to be. One conversation with a stranger could lead into a new best friend; a pillar of support put into life for encouragement.
One event can propel you to reevaulate your life; and make you realize of all the potential you have.
I've seen the hardships that tragedy from the Typhoon Ondoy. But at the same time, I've seen the perservence of the filipino people. How they can turn any negative and use it to propel themselves to reach out and take their neighbors hand. Philippines Red Cross made me realize the impact of H O P E.
I've learned so much; it is overwhelming. But I love learning, learning to me is like dancing for the mind. Helping delivering babies made me appreciate L I F E in general; and how amazing God has crafted the human body. With everything serving a purpose.
STENGTH. RESILENCE. ABLITY. SELF-DETERMINATION. all of these qualities God has shown me that I have it. I have made filipino friends who have taught me so much and opened my eyes to possiblity of international hustlin. For instance, one of my friends worked as an assistent for one of the top European media productions and the Duchess of Duke would come over for tea. Another, told me she went to Egypt with her boss and rode a camel through the pyraminds and how much it was stanky. Loiza, my meditation buddy, mentioned to me that she was in Thailand learning how to recognize her 'inner being' with her monk friend.
My point is;;;;; the world is a lot smaller than you think. And you? You're capable of so much more than where you are right now.
But sometimes, we get stuck into that "me? i'm a very simple person.. i'm not sure if i can do all that.." we ask God the same question Moses asked, "who am i that i should go?" but the truth is, ordinary people are capable of accomplishing amazing things. Joel Osteen, one of my favorite writers, says that we can all share a smile with someone, give an encouraging word or even help meet a need. as a believer, we are the hands and feet of Jesus.
we all have untapped potential. Something within us that has not yet come, its possible. its latent and unrealized and its waiting to be released.
LIGHT IT.
